2027 Basic Certification
2 Week Stage Combat Intensive
Affair of Honour is proud to be offering their first ever AFDC Basic Certification course. Join them in January 2027 for a two week intensive course to test for the Basic Actor Combatant level with the Academy of Fight Directors Canada. Students will train over sixty hours in three different weapon systems to learn the essential skills and safeties to perform higher quality stage combat.

Skills learned in this level are essential to any actor's tool-kit. Understanding how to keep yourself and others safe while performing aggression on stage is vital to a long and healthy career. The basic skills that include falling, striking, sword work and double handed stick, set actors up with a greater awareness of their body and how objects and weapons can be safely controlled as an extension of themselves.
Students will learn and test three different systems; unarmed, sword and two handed staff.
Students will learn three different fights to be performed in scenes to demonstrate comprehension of skills while performing full emotion and text. Please note that completion of this course does not guarantee you a certification with AFDC.
This is a workshop process that is challenging both mentally and physically. We pride ourselves on an empowering, yet rigorous approach to our training.
The Intensive Format
Intensive courses are demanding training events that require a lot of the mind and body. Please know that this style of class is ideal for fast learners, those who can only dedicate two weeks to stage combat training, and those who have a physical practice. If you are recovering from an injury or Illness, this may not be the best course to support your learning needs as you may be better suited for a long form process. Please know that we hope to offer long form certifications in the future.

INTENSIVE COSTS
The Basic Intensive with Affair of Honour is priced at $1,680.
To confirm your registration and reserve your place, a deposit of $250 is required.
Register and submit your deposit by September 1st to receive the Early Bird rate of $1,500 for the Intensive.
